New horizons in reconciliation: Iranian officials obsessed with Obama's nuclear "threat" for weeks

We noted one of many statements inspired by Obama's "threat" a few days ago. Here's one from the Supreme Leader, via PressTV: "Leader blasts US nuke threat on Iran":

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said Washington's nuclear threat will leave a 'dark spot' in US history.

"International bodies cannot turn a blind eye to this threat," Ayatollah Khamenei said on Wednesday.

"No one should dare to threaten humanity in this way. We will not allow the US to revive its evil dominance over Iran with such threats," the Leader added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said US threats would have no effect on the Iranian nation, but will leave a 'dark spot' on the political record of the United States.

Earlier this month, US President Barack Obama released a new US Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) that among other things restricted the use of nuclear arms against most non-atomic states.

The restriction, however, did not apply to countries that are, from Washington's viewpoint, in non-compliance with non-proliferation treaties.

Just before the NPR was issued, Obama told The New York Times that the loophole would apply to what he called "outliers like Iran and North Korea."

I don't mind if Obama takes a tough stance towards Iran, but it isn't exactly reassuring to see him do it by accident in the course of something meant to lower nuclear tensions.
